Chief John E. Howell

Chief Howell was appointed Chief of Police in March of 2006

      Chief Howell is a native Arkansan and earned a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Education prior to being employed with the Arkansas State Police in 1971. Chief Howell was assigned to the Highway Patrol Division for nine years then completed an additional twenty years in their Criminal Investigative Division.

      He held key assignments as a state polygraph examiner, in the Crimes Against Children Division and as the Commander of the Arkansas State Police's Internal Affairs Division.
