The Administrative Services Division is comprised of Data Entry,
customer service, the Telephone Reporting Unit, work release,
management research, crime analysis, information services, and the
Training Section, which is under the direction of a Deputy Chief who
reports directly to the Chief of Police.
The Training Section is responsible for developing and maintaining a
comprehensive program of professional and technical training for
members of the Department by conducting classes and promoting
training opportunities outside the Department. Ensuring
departmental compliance with the Rules and Regulations of the
Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training. The
maintaining a firearms training and qualifications program, weapons
inspection, issuance of ammunition and maintenance of all
Departmental shooting range equipment.

The Patrol Division is under the direction of a Deputy Chief who
reports to the Chief of Police. The Patrol Division is responsible
for the deployment of forces consistent with the needs of the City
in order to maintain public order, provide preventive patrol,
respond to calls for service and conduct investigations of crimes
and incident to including the arrest of offenders and the
coordination of police activities between the various geographic
areas of the City and the other Division of the Department.

The Detective Division is under the direction of a Deputy Chief who
reports to the Chief of Police. This division is responsible for the
follow-up investigation of Part I offenses, conducting the follow-up
investigation of other serious offenses and communicating with other
law enforcement agencies to exchange information pertinent to
criminal activity. Providing crime scene search and photographic
services to all division and the management of property in the
custody of the Department.

The Community Strategies Division is comprised of the Narcotics &
Vice and Intelligence Units under the direction of a Deputy Chief
who reports to the Chief of Police.
The Office of Professional Standards

The Office of Professional Standards investigates police involved
shootings, records registers, and controls the investigation of
complaints against employees and maintains the confidentiality of
Internal Affairs investigations and records. The Office of
Professional Standards is commanded by a Lieutenant who reports
directly to the Chief of Police.
The Research and Development Office

Under the direction of the Chief of Police,
the Research and Development office conducts and participates in
research and evaluation analysis of programs, policies, procedures
for the improvement of law enforcement operations. Additionally, the
position is responsible for seeking out funding and submission of
grant applications. Other duties include administrative tasks
regularly assigned by the Chief of Police or Deputy Chiefs of
Police.
The Public Information Officer position is an additional duty
assignment to be held in addition to any other assignment.
The Public Information Officer (PIO) will
cooperate with the news media by providing information about crime
and police activities. The PIO is responsible for the release of all
departmental information to the media.
