Under the direction of the Chief of Police, the Research and Development office conducts and participates in research and evaluation analysis of programs, policies,

procedures for the improvement of law enforcement operations. Additionally, the position is responsible for seeking out funding and submission of grant applications. Other duties include administrative tasks regularly assigned by the Chief of Police or Deputy Chiefs of Police.

The Public Information Officer position is an additional duty assignment to be held in addition to any other assignment. The Public Information Officer (PIO) will cooperate with the news media by providing information about crime and police activities. The PIO is responsible for the release of all departmental information to the media.
