enforcement, funeral escorts and assists the patrol
officers when needed. The section also recommends changes to the Traffic
Safety Committee of the City Council so that traffic problems, within
the city, are addressed. The Traffic Section commander also serves as
the Emergency Management Coordinator for the department.
The Traffic Section also handles special events, such
as Smoke On The Water, Southeast Arkansas Fair and Rodeo and all parades.
Traffic control at heavily attended functions also falls under the Traffic
Section. Some examples of this duty would be the U.A.P.B. Homecoming
and the annual Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks Display.
When called upon, the Traffic Section also handles
dignitary security and escort duties. The section has participated in
visits from several sitting and past presidents, First Lady Michelle
Obama, and numerous V.I.Ps.
The Traffic Section is comprised of 4 officers:

The primary mode of transport for traffic officers is the Dodge Charger.
The Traffic Section Commander is assigned a Dodge 2500 diesel pickup
in order to handle trailers used for Emergency Management functions.
The section also has two Harley Davidson motor units.
These are mainly used for traffic enforcement and escort duties.
