Training Division

 

The Training Division is responsible for the initial employment training of new police recruits prior to attending the AR Law Enforcement Academy (ALETA). After graduating from ALETA the new police recruits are assigned to

a Field Training Officer (FTO) in the Patrol Division. The Training Division evaluates the field training process over a twelve week period through a series of tests and completion of a Field Training manual.

The Training Division is responsible for instructing and scheduling all sworn employees for monthly in service training, Commission on Law Enforcement Standards and Training (CLEST) mandated annual firearms qualification, CLEST mandated annual racial profiling awareness, specialized training to meet career goals/job descriptions as well ACIC/NCIC training. 

The Training Division supervises the Part Time I and Part Time II officers. These Part Time officers supplement staffing in Patrol and help provide security at special events.

The Public/Community Relations Division supervises the School Resource Officers assigned to the Pine Bluff, Dollarway and Watson Chapel School Districts.

The Public/Community Relations Division sponsors and coordinates over thirty events annually including two Citizen Police Academies, a juvenile boot camp, sports camps for kids, Explorers, school coloring contests, a fishing derby, etc… The Public/Relations Division coordinates the Neighborhood Watch Programs. Citizens take an active part in awareness and reporting of suspicious activities in the areas they live in.
