The Pine Bluff Police Department Traffic Section is assigned to the Patrol Division.
The section investigates traffic collisions, conducts follow-up investigations on hit and run collisions, conducts traffic
enforcement, funeral escorts and assists the patrol officers when needed. The section also recommends changes to the Traffic Safety Committee of the City Council so that traffic problems, within the city, are addressed. The Traffic Section commander also serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the department.
The Traffic Section also handles special events, such as Smoke On The Water, Southeast Arkansas Fair and Rodeo and all parades. Traffic control at heavily attended functions also falls under the Traffic Section. Some examples of this duty would be the U.A.P.B. Homecoming and the annual Fourth of July Celebration and Fireworks Display.
When called upon, the Traffic Section also handles dignitary security and escort duties. The section has participated in visits from several sitting and past presidents, First Lady Michelle Obama, and numerous V.I.Ps.
The Traffic Section is comprised of 4 officers:
Lt. Derrell Ray, section commander
Sgt. Joe Anderson
Officer Travis Goforth
Officer Charles Clark
Officer Lloyd Parsley
The primary mode of transport for traffic officers is the Dodge Charger. The Traffic Section Commander is assigned a Dodge 2500 diesel pickup in order to handle trailers used for Emergency Management functions.
The section also has two Harley Davidson motor units. These are mainly used for traffic enforcement and escort duties.
