Minimum Employment Requirements


All officers are required to complete Arkansas Basic Police Training. This thirteen-week course provides instruction and practical application in: Criminal Investigation, Accident Investigation, Firearms, Non-deadly Defensive Tactics, Officer Safety Techniques, Traffic Law, Criminal Law, Civil Liability and other legal aspects of law enforcement, First Aid, Crime Prevention, Crisis Intervention, Cultural Diversity and other areas of importance to officers beginning their careers.

New hires are normally sent to the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy in Camden, AR. During the course, you will reside at the campus during the week and return home on the weekends.

Hiring Process

The application/testing process consists of three phases. You must complete Phase I to be eligible for advancement to Phases II and III. Successful candidates approved by the Pine Bluff Police Department will receive an offer of employment and will be scheduled to begin training at the Arkansas Law Enforcement Training Academy.

Appropriate dress attire is required throughout the process.

Consists of a short-form and computerized tests

In-person interview and questionnaire (explains the entire application)

Physical agility test (to be completed in one minute and thirty seconds; appropriate athletic wear required)
