Second suspect in King homicide surrenders

Pine Bluff detectives confirm that 39-year-old Lamarcus Benton, the second suspect wanted in connection with the July 18, 2025, homicide at 1212 South Spruce St., has turned himself in.
 
Benton, the brother of Michael King Jr., was wanted for capital murder following the fatal shooting of 36-year-old Markee Avery, who was discovered deceased from apparent gunshot wounds outside the residence.
 
King surrendered to police on Friday, July 18.
 
Benton surrendered peacefully on Wednesday, July 23, with his attorney and is currently being held at the W.C. "Dub" Brassell Detention Center for capital murder.
 
Detectives are actively investigating all circumstances surrounding Avery's death.
