The Special Weapons and Tactics team is a designated group of law enforcement officers who are selected, trained, and equipped to work as a coordinated team. They work to resolve critical incidents that are so hazardous, complex, or unusual that they may exceed the capabilities of first responders or investigative units.

The mission of this team is ultimately to bring about the successful resolution of critical incidents with the intent and purpose to minimize the risk of injury or loss of life to citizens, police officers, and suspects.
